6 Life Lessons From My Black Coffee Experiment ☕️
Issue #2 : My black coffee experiment inspired me to build new habits: book readings, doing a workout, doing yoga, meditation, etc.
We like to do things we are interested in. And we make several big life decisions based on our interests.
So, interest is really an interesting thing to understand.
How do we know what is interesting for us?
When something feels fun, easy, and exciting all the time, then we call it interesting. Things like: watching movies, listening to music, playing video games, etc.
So, if something is not exciting but good for us, and if we can make it fun, easy, and exciting, then that will become our hobby or interest, correct?
I tried this thesis with my black coffee experiment.
I grew up drinking and enjoying milk tea. I drank tea twice a day for 20 years.
But then, I tried black coffee for the first time in 2009, and it taste horrible. I couldn't understand why people would drink this thing. And never touched black coffee until 2016.
I began my journey to personal growth and transformation by acquiring new habits and learning new skills in 2016. And change is hard, right?
So, I decided to do my black coffee experiment. The goal was to drink 50 cups of black coffee and see if I started liking it. After some 30-35 cups of coffee, it became fun, easy, and exciting, and I started liking it.
For the last seven years, I have been drinking black coffee.
Things I learned from my black coffee experiments:
#1 Trying something new may seem boring or uncomfortable initially, but over time you can turn them into a lifelong habit.
#2 We underestimate our ability to learn and adapt to new changes.
#3 Our hobbies, interests, and skills are not genetically wired; we can develop new hobbies and interests by being disciplined and consistent.
#4 We limit our life goals around our interests and hobby, but our mastery of learning new things makes the opportunities limitless.
#5 We choose our goals based on interest, but we can develop new interests based on our goals.
#6 My success with black coffee inspired me to build more new habits: reading books, doing workouts, writing blogs, doing yoga, meditation, etc.
🌟 My mission is to inspire 100 million people to live an extraordinary life.
