The Power of Momentum Habits
βSuccess is a series of small victories.β -Β John C.Maxwell
Our good daily habits are the building blocks of our success. Checking off daily habits from our to-do list is like small victories. These small victories through daily habits also act as a positive force for more victories.
Momentum means strength gained by a series of events.
Build one daily habit that becomes your positive anchor (or force) to build more good habits. This is the one thing that will serve as daily momentum and motivation.
This habit should be simple and small (<3 mins) so that you donβt have any excuse not to do it.
Momentum Habit β 5 pushups every day.
Build a 100-day streak!
If you are starting to build a new momentum habit, target to build at least a 100-day streak. By design, this habit is small and easy, increasing the odds of doing it daily. The positive impact of momentum habit will start once you build a 100-day streak.
Momentum habit is my small daily win that acts as a domino for other wins!
My momentum habit has helped me in times when I feel demotivated or struggle in other areas of my life. It works as a little dose of motivation and accomplishment. A positive reminder of my self-discipline.
Here are a few examples of good momentum habits:
2 min breath-focused meditation.
Write 1 daily win in your notebook.
Write 1 reason you are thankful to your partner.
Take 1 flight (10-15 steps) of stairs every day.
Read a positive message/quote every day.
Plank for 15 seconds.
Key takeaway: The big transformation journey starts with tiny steps and small wins. Remember the story of Turtle and Hare? Think and act like a turtle when you are building new habits.
