The 'Step 5' Mindset: Your Key to Fast-Track Your Success π
Issue #101: Effortless Success with the βStep 5β Mindset. My Quick Note Taking System. Top 5 Regrets of Dying.
Did you know that if you hit the heart β€οΈ at the bottom or the top of this email, it would help others discover my tips and make me super happy?
π‘ Here are 3-ideas to help you learn, grow, and be inspired this week!
πΒ Learn
This month, I learned about a different approach to achieving goals 60% faster with less effort.
I call it the "Start at Step 5" mindset.
First, let me explain my usual method for tackling big goals.
Example Goal: Meeting Someone with a Much Bigger Business (Let's call him Elon)
For big goals like this, I typically create a multi-step process:
Step 1: Identify who in my network can introduce me to Elon.
Step 2: Contact that person and ask for advice or an introduction.
Step 3: β¦β¦
Step 4: β¦β¦
Step 5: Reach out to Elon and ask for a meeting.
Another Example Goal: Forming a Lead-Sharing Partnership with Another Agency (Let's call the company Space X)
Step 1: Sponsor my business on the Space X platform.
Step 2: Organize a few joint events.
Step 3: Record a few podcasts together.
Step 4:β¦β¦
Step 5: Propose a lead-sharing partnership.
This month, instead of starting at step 1, I decided to experiment by jumping directly to step 5.
Did it work?
Yes!
I'm meeting Elon for lunch this Monday.
I'm also starting a lead-sharing partnership with Space X. π
Key Takeaway:
Starting at the βStep 5β approach is more about attitude than method.
It saves time and effort by cutting to the chase. While sometimes a step-by-step approach is required, but not always. Sometimes, you can jump straight to step 5 and see what happens. If it doesn't work, you can always go back to step 1. But why waste time and energy when you can be bold and try step 5 first?
For me, starting at step 1 feels safe and comfortable, while jumping to step 5 feels bold and a little scary. But the results speak for themselves.
I encourage you to try the "Step 5" mindset this week to achieve your goals. Give it a shot, and let me know how it goes by leaving a comment or replying to this email.
πΒ Growth Tip
Iβve been on a mission to level up my note-taking game.
I needed something quick, simple, and all in one place to capture those lightbulb moments, awesome quotes, and random inspirations that hit me while listening to podcasts or audiobooks, walking, reading, or chatting with interesting people.
After trying a bunch of different systems over the years, I finally found one that rocks. Hereβs how it works:
I have a Notion page called βQuick Notes.β
Iβve got a nifty shortcut widget for this page on my iPhone.
I jot down all my notes here, and then every weekend, I sort through them and organize everything into the right spots.
π€©Β Inspiration
The top 5 regrets of a dying person really struck a chord with me.
Death is my greatest inspiration.
Knowing that I (and all of us) will die someday reminds me to live a meaningful life with as few regrets as possible.
